College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) in Partnership with PHCC Celebrates National Sport Day

 

 

 Under the presence of HE the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari , Dr .Maraim Abdulmalik –Managing Director of Primary Health Care Corporation and Dr. Ken Macleod – CAN-Q President ,the  Staff of the Primary Healthcare Corporations (PHCC) and College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) have come together to celebrate Qatar Sport Day, a demonstration of both organizations’ commitment to drive forward Qatar National Vision 2030, of which a core pillar is building a healthy, prosperous and developed community through investing in health. This also reflects the importance of further strengthening the concepts of physical activities that should become part of the community’s culture in Qatar as a whole.

 

Employees and their families from both organizations participated in various activities as well as sporting competitions that took place within the sports facilities at CNA-Q.

 

A medical team from PHCC was at hand providing biometric screening, medical consultations related to practicing physical activities and general advice.

 

Dr. Mariam Abdul Al Malek, Managing Director of PHCC, expressed her delight at the partnership between PHCC and CNA-Q suggesting that educational establishments are considered the foundation platform for establishing a sports culture and a means to raise the community’s awareness of the importance of physical activities, which is a core objective of PHCC. Primary Healthcare is committed to raising awareness of the benefits of regular sports and physical activities, by promoting a healthy culture and urging citizens to take up the habit of exercising regularly, taking into account that regular sport nurtures healthy living.

 

Dr. Mariam has also pointed out that sport is essential if you want to live a healthy and fulfilling life into old age reduces the chances of developing chronic disease, highlighting that sports day should not only be a celebratory one day initiative but an opportunity to kick start a long term active lifestyle.

 

College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) has been celebrating National Sports Day for six years.

 

This year, the College is thrilled to officially partner with PHCC for a more comprehensive and pro-active approach to promoting sport and wellness in the community.

 

PHCC and CNA-Q have been long-time partners, stemming from the relationship built with the College’s School of Health Sciences. CNA-Q has nine programs which graduate students to be well-equipped allied healthcare professionals, of which many are mentored and trained at PHCC.

 

Fitness and wellness are hallmarks of the College’s philosophy to develop healthy, well-rounded contributors for Qatar’s workforce. Each week there are healthy living activities organized around campus to promote the importance of maintaining an active and fulfilling lifestyle all year long.

 

“At CNA-Q we pride ourselves on being able to provide more than quality education, but a complete lifestyle experience to better our students overall,” said CNA-Q President, Dr. Ken MacLeod. “This year in partnership with PHCC, we are able to make a big impact with the greater community and share our passion for wellness and an active lifestyle.”
